Restaurant Bookings

Cancellation Policy

Credit or debit card details are required for all reservations to secure your booking. No charges will be processed at the time of reservation.

We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice for any cancellations or changes to your booking.
Failure to provide adequate notice, or in the case of a no-show, will incur a $40 per person fee, charged to the card on file.

We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise. If you are unable to attend your reservation, please contact us on (03) 9663 7226, and we will assess your situation accordingly.

Seating Duration

● Bookings of 1–7 guests: 2-hour seating time
● Bookings of 8+ guests: 2.5-hour seating time
● Pre-theatre bookings: 1.5-hour seating time
● Drinks bookings (3:00pm – 5:00pm): 1-hour seating time

For special requests or extended seating times, please contact us directly on (03) 9663 7226. Extensions are subject to availability.

Booking Grace Period

Reserved tables will be held for 15 minutes past the scheduled booking time. After this period, the table may be released to accommodate other guests. We will attempt to contact you before giving up your table.

Surcharges

A surcharge of 10% applies on Sundays and 15% applies on Public Holidays to all food and beverage purchases. These surcharges help cover increased operational and staffing costs on these days and will be added to your final bill.

Standard credit/debit card surcharges apply to all payments paid via this method.

Venue Policy

Responsible Service of Alcohol

The George on Collins promotes the Responsible Service of Alcohol. We reserve the right to refuse service to any patron who is intoxicated.

Liability

The George on Collins is not responsible for the loss, theft, or damage of personal belongings during your visit.

Late Night Entry

Management reserves the right to refuse entry based on attire or behaviour not aligned with venue standards.

Underage Guests

Guests under the age of 18 are welcome when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
On Fridays and Saturdays, all guests under 18 must vacate the premises by 10:00pm.

Dress Code

Our dress code is smart casual, with a “dress to impress” approach encouraged on Fridays and Saturdays.

The following are not permitted:

● Activewear or sportswear (of any brand)
● Ripped, torn, or soiled clothing
● T-shirts with offensive language or imagery
● Camouflage clothing
● Workwear (including singlets and steel-cap boots)
● Ugg boots, thongs, rubber gumboots, or untidy footwear

Clean sneakers are permitted.

Dietary Requirements

We cater to a variety of dietary requirements, including:

● Vegetarian & Vegan
● Gluten-free & Lactose-free
● Seafood/Shellfish allergies
● Nut-free options
● Halal

We can accommodate Coeliac and Fructose dietary needs, however these are not available on banquet menus. Individual dishes will be provided to minimise cross-contamination.

We are unable to cater to Kosher dietary requirements, unless external catering is arranged in advance for private events.

Please advise us of any dietary requirements at the time of booking. Our team will also assist you on the day.

Private Functions

Confirmation

To secure your function booking, a signed copy of the Terms & Conditions and a 50% deposit of the minimum spend is required within 7 days.

Payments

The booking signatory is responsible for all payments under the agreement.

● A 50% deposit is required within 7 days of confirming the event
● Remaining balance (including any additional charges such as bar tabs) must be settled on the night of the event
● We do not issue post-event invoices

Card surcharges apply

Cancellation or Postponement

If a function is cancelled after the deposit has been paid, no refund will be issued.

Clients are permitted one (1) postponement, subject to availability.

● The new event date must fall within 2 months of the original booking
● Written notice must be provided at least 10 days prior to the event

Failure to meet these conditions will result in the booking being treated as a cancellation.

Celebration Cakes (Restaurant & Functions)

Guests are welcome to bring a celebration cake.

Please ensure the cake is clearly labelled with your booking name and any storage instructions.

Cakeage fees:

● $3.50 per person
● Flat rate of $75 for groups of 21 or more

This fee covers storage, handling, cutting, plating, and serving in accordance with health and safety standards.

Event Restrictions

The George on Collins does not accept traditional bucks parties or 18th birthday celebrations.

General Conditions

The George on Collins reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time without prior notice. By making a booking or attending the venue, guests agree to comply with all policies outlined above.
